The ever growing popularity and expansion of social media pretty much guarantees that to be in business, you must be online. With popular apps like Facebook, where millions of users partake, how do you get yourself recognized enough to make a difference? Follow along for 5 tips to jump start Your social media presence.

1.   Create a Social Media Strategy

A social media strategy is a plan of everything you hope to accomplish on social media.  A social media strategy helps you be mindful of whether you are succeeding or failing.  The more specific the social media strategy, the more successful it will be.

Your social media strategy will help you map out your goals.  What do you hope to accomplish by being on social media? How to do you plan to achieve your goals?  You should also think about who your target audience will be.  How do you plan to engage with your audience? Creating your social media strategy will guide you to accomplish these goals or direct you on how to adjust to reach your end goal, gaining a social media presence.

2. Provide Diversified Content for Different Platforms

It is important to treat each platform differently, producing different content and how you post your content is important.  Using the #hashtag on twitter allows you to reach multiple areas in one post, but the hashtag on Facebook should be used with the idea “less is more.”

Facebook pages allow users to take advantage of options like adding services and products, customize tabs, or creating targeted advertisements and campaigns.

 

3. Choose the Right Time to Post and the Right Content to Share

Identifying the best times to share your content is almost as important as what you are choosing to share.  Although mid-week between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. tend to be the best time to engage with followers, early mornings and evenings appear to be high traffic times too.  Of course, this could differ considering what your niche may be.

When sharing content onto your social media, the key is to make sure it is worth sharing.  Creating engaging posts that connect with your followers pulls them in and leaves them wanting more from you.  Providing content that educates your viewers is in high demand.  This year everyone has been thrown a curveball with the Covid-19 outbreak.  Sharing new and innovative information teaching your followers the how-to’s will reel them in, hook, line, and sinker.

 

4.   Do Not Be Afraid to Try New Platforms

The online world is always evolving.  Your business should be adaptable to the changes that come your way.  You can’t be afraid to try new things.  Platforms like Tik-Tok and Snapchat have swept the younger generation off of their feet.  Newly emerging social media sites such as Parler and MeWe have garnered a following with promises of less restrictive posting.  Mastering these arena’s will help your business stay relevant.

Above we mentioned popular social media platforms Tik-Tok and Snapchat, whose popularity is ever rising.  These platforms utilize a resource that may still feel unfamiliar to long time social media users, the video.

Video marketing is a great tool when trying to engage with followers on other platforms, like Facebook and Instagram.  Studies show that 80% of social media users would rather tune in to a live video than read a post.  With the growing popularity of video marketing, users have several options ranging from pre-recorded, possibly edited video, to short recorded Tik-Tok videos, to popping on Facebook Live!  Whatever method you choose, video marketing is the new way to share, engage, and receive feedback.
